ABOUT
SIKH RELIGION
The Sikh religion, also known as Sikhi, is a panentheistic faith with deep roots in the Indian subcontinent. Founded in the late 15th century by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Sikhism is characterized by an unwavering belief in an omnipresent God, social equality and a commitment to selfless service. Central to the Sikh philosophy is the notion of the 'Guru', with Guru Nanak being the first of ten Sikh Gurus whose teachings are enshrined in the sacred scripture, the Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Sikhs follow a disciplined and ethical lifestyle that emphasizes honesty, humility and devotion to God.
Their distinctive appearance, including turbans and uncut hair, reflects a commitment to preserving their religious identity. Sikhism promotes inclusivity and emphasizes the idea that all people are
equal in the eyes of the divine, regardless of their origin, caste or gender. The Sikh religion has had a lasting impact on the world not only through its spiritual teachings, but also through its emphasis on
social justice and charitable work.
